Critical water main break - June 2024
A State of Local Emergency is in effect.
On June 5, there was a catastrophic break in the feeder main that moves most of the water from the Bearspaw Water Treatment Plant through the city. Since then, we have detected five additional hot spots on the feeder main in need of urgent repair.
While repair work is underway, Calgary, Strathmore, Airdrie, Chestermere and the Tsuut’ina Nation are relying on the Glenmore Water Treatment Plant for almost all of their water needs.
To make sure we have enough water for essential needs, we’re asking Calgarians, businesses and neighbours to continue to reduce their water use by 25%. Together, we can make every drop count!
Tune in for live daily video updates at 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
