Since 2003, The City of Calgary’s annual reports have consistently won the Government Financial Officers Association (GFOA) award for financial reporting.
2011 Annual Report
The
2011 Annual Report continues to emphasize corporate governance, accountability, transparency and full disclosure consistent with Canadian best practices applicable to Municipalities. It provides a comprehensive view of the 2011 consolidated financial statements and highlights significant accomplishments delivered to improve the lives of Calgarians’ and their interactions with The City.
Moving Calgary onward
The theme for the 2011 Annual Report is “Moving Calgary Onward”, which connects the success of each highlighted City project to how it benefits Calgarians and what Council approved target the project helps achieve – such as imagineCALGARY or the 2020 Sustainability Direction.
Financial statements
The 2011 consolidated financial statements reflect growth and demand for City services, and demonstrate that The City is in good financial health, able to balance expenses with revenues and a small tax-supported surplus. Strong fiscal management is also confirmed by The City’s current credit ratings from Dominion Bond Rating Service (DBRS) at AA (high) and Standard & Poor’s (S&P) at AA+/Stable, among the best for Canadian Municipalities.
