Neighbour Day
We had our first neighbour day party last year and it was a huge success! Everyone was thrilled! We recently had a new family move to the street and they said what sold them was when their realtor told them about our great neighbour day party!

Tips to plan a block party for neighbours on your street.

Free block party/play street permit and barricades
A block party permit lets you close the roadway for your event. See the Block Party Guide for more information and apply early to ensure your request can be processed in time.

Free greenspace permit
Apply early and make sure to include “Neighbour Day” in your event name to ensure your free permit. The free permit offer is only valid for bookings on June 21, 2025.

Invite the Mayor and/or your Councillor
Seeing Calgarians celebrate Neighbour Day is an annual highlight for the Mayor and Council. Invite them to drop by and say hello at your event!

Request a fire truck
Delight guests of all ages at your community event or Neighbour Day block party by letting them see a fire truck up close!

Request a police officer
Sirens and smiles! To request a Neighbour Day visit from Calgary Police Service, please contact your district office directly.
Funding your event
Community associations, Business Improvement Areas and other non-profits may be eligible for funding to support a Neighbour Day event or activation in their community.
The City of Calgary Arts & Culture microgrant provides up to $5,000 for a new or improved Neighbour Day event. Applications will re-open in winter 2024/25 for Neighbour Day 2025 events.
Private block parties and other events organized by individual residents are not eligible for funding.
