Mission

We enable, contribute and sustain dynamic communities through great parks and open spaces.

Vision

Calgary’s parks and open spaces are cherished places that connect us to nature, our heritage, and one another.

  • Stewardship and volunteerism

Partner with us to take care of parks, green spaces, playgrounds, pathways, trees, natural areas, and off-leash areas; conduct ecological research; or provide park users with engaging interpretive experiences. We encourage volunteers of all backgrounds, abilities and experience.

  • Parks information and location

The City of Calgary provides more than 8,000 hectares of parkland and natural areas, as well as 800 km of pathways.

  • Programs and events

We offer a variety of courses, programs and special events that celebrate our parks and green spaces, promote environmental stewardship and explore the wonders of nature.

  • Pathways and bikeways

Calgary communities, parks and natural areas are connected by an extensive network of multi-use pathways available for all Calgarians to enjoy. In fact, Calgary has the most extensive urban pathway and bikeway network in North America, maintaining approximately 580 km of regional pathways, 220 km of local pathways and 95 km of trails.

  • Cemeteries

The City of Calgary operates five cemeteries and an indoor mausoleum where families can honour and remember a loved one. Our cemeteries are unique reminders of our past, present and future.

  • Historical walking tours

Mounties and ministers, cowboys and cooks, prohibitionists and politicians! Join volunteer tour guides on a walk through time to learn about the people, personalities and events that shaped this vibrant city.
