Snow and ice control
The City is committed to helping make Calgary safe for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. An effective snow and ice control program is essential to allow the municipality to function under normal winter weather conditions and follows the seven day snow plan.

Spring street cleaning
The Spring Clean-up program, which removes sanding materials and debris that has accumulated on roads during the winter months.

Sidewalk and road repair
Repairs to paved, graveled, and oiled road surfaces; concrete and asphalt sidewalks, curbs and gutters; Right-of-Way and median fences, guard rails; bollards, tree-grates and sound attenuation and concrete barriers. Gravel lane maintenance includes inspection of gravel lanes, grading to address potholes and drainage, adding or removing material as necessary, and applying calcium chloride/water mixture to assist in compaction of surface and to reduce dust.

Traffic management
Operates traffic signals, cameras and digital message sign and installs and maintains traffic signs, crosswalks, road markings, and detours. View up-to-the-minute traffic monitoring camera images for the latest traffic conditions at major driving routes such as Bow Trail, Deerfoot Trail, Glenmore Trail, Macleod Trail and Memorial Drive and other key intersections in S.W., S.E., N.E. and N.W. Calgary.

Street use and event permits
A street use permit is required to exclusively use any City road right-of-way, that is, a street, a sidewalk, an alley, a walkway, a back lane, a boulevard, or traffic control set-up.
