What is Green Line?

The Green Line light rail transit (LRT) is the largest infrastructure investment in our city’s history. Phase 1 will connect communities in the southeast with downtown and the broader transit network while providing economic, environmental and social benefits for Calgarians.

As part of The City of Calgary’s long-term plan for safe, accessible, customer-focused public transit, Phase 1 from Shepard to Eau Claire downtown will provide much-needed transit options for Calgary’s growing population. It will also be an important platform for new city-building development and create investment opportunities for businesses and communities.

Green Line is funded by The City of Calgary, Province of Alberta and Government of Canada and overseen by an independent Board of Directors.

Main construction is expected to begin in 2024.
