Proclamations and Letters of Recognition are ceremonial documents signed by the Mayor. They may highlight important issues, charitable events, arts and cultural celebrations, memorable occasions and special honours on a specific day, week, or month.
Letters of Recognition will be considered for acknowledgement of a profession, anniversary, or milestone occasion.

Proclamations and Letters of Recognition are public service documents and not intended for marketing purposes or commercial promotion and, when used to promote an awareness campaign, must be kept in their original form. They are strictly honourary and are not endorsements for a cause or program. Requests must be initiated by a representative of an organization. Individual or personal requests are not considered.
The decision to issue and declare proclamations and letters of recognition is at the discretion of the Office of the Mayor.
Proclamations/Letters of Recognition must meet at least ONE of the following criteria:
- The requesting organization/sponsoring agency be a recognized (preferably registered) charitable and/or non-profit organization;
- The cause be an initiative of The City of Calgary;
- The cause must be one of benefit or significance to the majority of Calgarians;
- The cause be of national significance.
The requesting organization must be based in Calgary, or have a local Calgary chapter or contact representing the organization.
Upon receipt, your request will be reviewed to determine whether it meets the criteria of a proclamation or letter of recognition. You may be contacted during the review process for clarification.
To submit your request, please submit the form below or fax the information to 403-268-8130 or mail to: Office of the Mayor, The City of Calgary, P.O. Box 2100, Station M, Calgary, AB T2P 2M5. Please include the name and contact details of the requesting organization, all necessary background information, and when you need the proclamation or letter of recognition. We require 4 to 6 weeks for review and preparation of your proclamation or letter of recognition.
Once your proclamation or letter of recognition is complete, you will be contacted to confirm delivery (pick-up or mail).
Mayor Nenshi does not typically present proclamations at events. If you would like to invite the Mayor to your event instead of receiving a proclamation, please complete the Invite the Mayor form.
