Calgarians are once again invited to come together, show their community spirit and get involved in Neighbour Day 2024 by organizing a block party with neighbours or community event on Saturday, June 15.

To make it easier for Calgarians to celebrate Neighbour Day this year, block party and greenspace permits are free until May 31, 2024. Invite the Mayor, Councillor Wyness, a police officer or book a fire truck to drop by your event. You can also enter to win one of several great prizes, including 30 minutes of live musical entertainment at your block party. Visit calgary.ca/NeighbourDay to apply for your permit and submit your invitation requests.

In addition to the many block parties and community events that will be happening across the city on June 15, Calgary Public Library is hosting Indigenous programming at select locations, while Sport Calgary’s All Sport One Day will offer children a free opportunity to try out a new sport.

Calgarians can get into the Neighbour Day spirit by attending one of the kick-off events on May 4, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge and Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton. Featuring live music, face painting, roving performers and more, these free, family friendly events will have information and resources for planning your own Neighbour Day block party or community event in June.

Share in the fun and show how you celebrated Neighbour Day! Post your event photos to social media using #YYCNeighbourDay.
