Tips to plan a block party for neighbours on your street.

Free block party/play street permit and barricades
A block party permit lets you close the roadway for your event. See the Block Party Guide for more information and apply by May 31, 2025 to ensure your request can be processed in time.

Free greenspace permit
Apply by May 31, 2025 and make sure to include “Neighbour Day” in your event name to ensure your free permit. The free permit offer is only valid for bookings on June 21, 2025.

Request a fire truck
Delight guests of all ages at your community event or Neighbour Day block party by letting them see a fire truck up close!
Funding your event
Community associations, Business Improvement Areas and other non-profits may be eligible for funding to support a Neighbour Day event or activation in their community.
#YYCNeighbourDay Microgrant
New for 2025! Up to $2,500 to small-scale, free-to-attend events that foster community connections and promote equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
Deadline to apply: until funds run out or May 31, 2025.
