Tree care and education

Thanks to generations of tree-loving citizens, Calgary is a city of green, with over 1.5 million trees in our urban forest.

Did you know that over half our city’s trees are located on private land? We want to help Calgarians to plant new trees, while caring for the ones we already have. Our Right Tree, Right Location offer basic tree-care information. Learn at your own pace, when convenient, for absolutely no cost.

These in-person information sessions teach you what it means to have the right tree for the right location. The session will provide you with the knowledge to plant and care for a new tree in your yard.

Tree Pests & Pruning

Join Calgary Parks for an information session to learn how to identify common tree pests and proper pruning techniques to keep your trees healthy and thriving. Sessions feature a Q&A with a certified arborist who offers advice and answers tree-related questions or concerns.

We are accepting requests for the sessions listed above for groups of up to 30 participants. If your community group, organization, or team would like to learn more, please email YYCTrees@calgary.ca to discuss booking an information session at your community association or location.

We also plan to offer a limited number of information sessions open to the public at Ralph Klein Park and Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in spring 2027. Details including dates and registration information will be shared once they become available.
