Where do your residential tax dollars go?

Calgarian’s priorities are funded by operating and capital budgets. Tax dollars make up 50 per cent of the operating budget. The remaining amount comes from other sources we collect, like user fees and permits.

Operational Services operates and maintains our city’s valuable public infrastructure, natural spaces, ecosystems and parks, civic buildings and facilities, City vehicles and equipment and our utility corridors.

We also work closely with various partners to prevent crime and help people in crisis due to challenges with homelessness, mental health and addictions.
