Les Tochor
Title: Acting Chief Financial Officer and Acting General Manager, Corporate Planning & Financial Services
Areas of focus: As the Acting Chief Financial Officer, Les oversees all of the finance functions at The City of Calgary, providing overall long-term strategy, policy and advisory support to the entire organization. As Acting General Manager of Corporate Planning & Financial Services, Les oversees work that is done to plan, monitor and improve corporate sustainability, value and performance through business units Assessment & Tax, Supply Management, Finance and Corporate Planning & Performance.
Career history: Les joined The City in 2020 as the City Treasurer and Director of Finance. In 2023, he became the City Treasurer and Deputy Chief Financial Officer. He brings more than 25 years of experience as a public-sector leader with demonstrated success in implementing change in complex environments, while being sensitive to the intricacies of governing regulations and policies.
Before joining The City, he was the Associate Vice President of Finance at the University of Calgary, where he achieved many milestones including the creation of the Integrated Service Centre, implemented the centralization of core financial processes with enhanced internal controls and financial business support to faculties and units, and the creation of the business partner model. Les also sponsored and designed the Robotic Process Automation initiative including consultant selection, proof of concept, pilot, and automation into production.
Les is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan.
