Project Update - October 2, 2024

Until recently, the majority of work was happening overnight to account for lane closures so exterior work could be done, this has now changed to daytime work as window glazing for the bridge going over 6 Ave has been completed. Glazing for the second bridge going over the parking lot is ongoing.

Flooring and carpeting from both bridges have been removed, with structural reinforcement ongoing. Skylight replacement has begun and the fall arrest system install is happening. There are also various mechanical and electrical installs happening as well.

The construction timeline is still on schedule and being actively monitored to prevent delays to construction. Crews have been on site daily working from 6 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.

Please check back on this page for the closure start date and for updates throughout construction.

Frequently asked questions

Why is this project happening?

The Plus 15 infrastructure is aging and require renovations to ensure they remain safe and in good condition. These projects prolong the life of the Plus 15 structures so they can be used in years to come.

Will businesses in the Plus 15 Network be open during construction?

Businesses in the Plus 15 will be open during construction. Plus 15 users can access the businesses via the detours in the Plus 15 and street level. Detour signage will be provided on this page and in the Plus 15.

Why don’t I see any contractors working on the Plus 15 bridges?

The majority of the work is occurring after hours and at night due to noisy work and to reduce the impact to building tenants.

Why can’t you partially reopen the Plus 15 bridges?

Plus 15 bridge closures are required to protect public safety, as life safety systems are being upgraded and floors are being replaced or rebuilt. The bridges cannot be re-opened, whether fully or partially, without appropriate life safety systems in place.

They cannot be opened to the public until it has been inspected and approved for use.

When will this project be complete?

Major construction activity is expected to be complete by mid-December 2024.
