Tax phone scams

While The City does contact property owners by phone regarding taxes, we will NEVER:

  • Ask for payment by pre-paid credit card, gift cards or bitcoin.
  • Threaten to send the police, lay criminal charges or threaten you with arrest/jail for non-payment.
  • Request personal information such as Social Insurance Number (SIN), health care number, passport number or birthdate.
  • Use aggressive language or tone.

If you receive a suspicious call advising you owe money to The City? Contact 311 or call 403-268-CITY (2489) to verify the call's authenticity.
