Ward 2 - Jennifer Wyness

144 Ave North Bus Rapid Transit Study

On July 4, 2023, Council approved RouteAhead, a 30-year plan for Calgary Transit. Key projects include the 144 Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and the Symons Valley Transit Terminal, aimed at improving transit services in growing communities in the northwest.

What's happening?

The City is conducting a study for the 144 Avenue North BRT and Symons Valley Terminal to enhance transit in North Calgary. The BRT will connect major routes like the Red and Blue Lines, providing a safe and reliable cross-town service that addresses the area's future transit needs.

The Symons Valley Terminal, set for 2028, will be a major hub supporting local buses and the BRT. Planning for both will be closely aligned to ensure seamless integration.

Study goals:

  • Gather public feedback.
  • Design the BRT route, stations, and connections.
  • Plan the terminal for walking, cycling, and driving.
  • Determine project costs and phasing.

This study aims to shape a better transit system as Ward continues to grow.
