Celebrate Calgary Culture Days

Get ready to celebrate Calgary’s culture!

Every year, Calgary comes alive with the vibrant landscape of its artistic and cultural heritage. Calgary Culture Days gives residents an opportunity to discover, experience and celebrate arts and culture in their community, downtown and across the city.

Starting this week, join friends and neighbours from across the city as you take part in an immersive, enriching experience, while fostering a deeper connection with Calgary’s community.

Here's a taste of what to expect:

As a lead-up to Culture Days, on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m., The City has partnered with Arts Commons to present "Party in the Plaza," a free event at Olympic Plaza. The event will be headlined by Canadian Hip-Hop pioneer Kardinal Offishall and dance diva Kiesza, featuring food trucks, drinks and an opening showcase of local Hip-Hop artists presented by 10 at 10.

On Thursday, Aug. 31, Calgarians are invited to celebrate Alberta Day and kick off Calgary Culture Days with "Music on the Avenue." Bring your lunch and head down to Stephen Avenue between noon and 1 p.m. to enjoy the sounds of local live music outside the Palace Theatre (219 – 8 Ave. S.W.).

Then on Saturday, Sept. 2, The Government of Alberta is presenting free live entertainment featuring headliner band Nice Horse as part of an Alberta Day celebration at Heritage Park. Park admission will be free and the day will be brimming with family-friendly activities, including exploration of the historical village, vendor market, an exciting drone show and more!

Calgary Culture Days coincides with Alberta Culture Days through the month of September and with National Culture Days, which is celebrated September 22 – October 15, 2023.
