Ward 2 Food Bank Initiative

The face of hunger is not only the homeless in our city; it could be the family next door. In the past year, a typical Ward 2 hamper request came from a household whose monthly income was $1,825. With monthly expenses at $1,450, this wage was insufficient in covering the cost of their basic needs. Reasons behind hamper requests may vary, such as insufficient fixed government benefits (26%), unemployment (15%), and/or reasons related to COVID-19 (13%). (Stats from the Calgary Food Bank Ward Profiles)

This December, I invite you to join me in donating to the Calgary Food Bank by visiting the Ward 2 donation page from Dec 1 - 11. For every $1 donated, the Calgary Food Bank can distribute $5 worth of quality food. Your gift is more than money; it’s the gift of better health and well-being to those facing food insecurity in our community. You are helping to ensure that every food hamper has enough good nutritious food for the entire family. Together, we fight hunger and its root causes because no one should go hungry.

Until Dec 11, residents  may also donate non-perishables to the following locations in Ward 2:

  • Crowfoot Library (8665 Nose Hill Dr NW)
  • Sage Hill Library (19 Sage Hill Passage NW)

Snow Route Parking Bans

Before heading out this December, know which streets have parking restrictions by using The City’s online map that shows banned parking locations. This map shows where parking is temporarily restricted on designated snow routes across the city. Parking bans may last up to 72 hours following a parking ban being issued by The City. View the map at https://maps.calgary.ca/SnowRouteParkingBans/.
