Bylaws related to cats
According to our Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, cat owners are required to adhere to the following regulations for their cats:
- Obtain a City of Calgary license.
- Keep the cats within the owner's property.
- Prevent disturbances to the peace by howling or crying.
- Avoid causing damage to others' property.
- Refrain from scattering garbage.
- Ensure that cats do not chase, threaten, or attack people or other animals.
- Limit the number of cats owned to six or fewer.
Failure to comply with these regulations may result in fines ranging from $25 to $1500 under the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw.
