Caution | Outdoor water restrictions in effect

Stage 1 Outdoor Water Restrictions remain in effect. Beginning August 26, we will return to Stage 4 Outdoor Restrictions and limited indoor water use as we complete urgent feeder main repairs.

Learn more

As we continue to make progress on stabilizing the water distribution system following the Bearspaw South Feeder Main repairs, we are gradually lifting restrictions while making sure water supply can meet demand.

Stage 1 outdoor water restrictions are in place for all residences and businesses along with City of Calgary operations. Violations may lead to fines starting at $400.

Our regional customers including the City of Airdrie, the City of Chestermere, Tsuut’ina Nation and the Town of Strathmore, also have water restrictions in place and are asking residents and businesses to reduce their water use.

Stage 3 Water restrictions

Allowed at certain times during Stage 1 Outdoor Water Restrictions

Do Sprinkler use is allowed 2 hrs/week during set days/times

Sprinklers and in-ground sprinkling systems to water your lawn, trees, gardens and shrubs can be used during the following sprinkler schedule with even-numbered addresses watering some days, and odd-numbered addresses on watering on different days.

Tip: You can split the two hours over the course of a day, during the designated times, or between the two days you are allowed to water, as long as it does not exceed two hours per week.

Using an address-based set sprinkler schedule helps us spread water demand evenly across the city and effectively manage our supply.

Sprinkler schedule - Individual unit or residences

Use the last digit of your house or unit number.

Even number addresses (0,2,4,6,8)

For example: 32 31 Avenue S.W.

Up to two hours a week Wednesday or Saturday

  • 4 a.m. - 7 a.m.; or
  • 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.; or
  • 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Odd number addresses (1,3,5,7,9)

For example: 2355 22 Street N.W.

Up to two hours a week
Thursday
 or Sunday

  • 4 a.m. - 7 a.m.; or
  • 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.; or
  • 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Sprinkler Schedule - Multi-unit properties:

Use the street address of your building.

Multi-unit residential or business properties with a common irrigation system that spans multiple addresses or units are allowed to water on one even day per week (Wednesday or Saturday for two hours total) and one odd day per week (Thursday or Sunday for two hours total).

This allows for a total of four hours per week for that entire parcel, regardless of the number of units or irrigation zones.
