Calgary’s Summer Festival Season is in full swing! Downtown is where you’ll find the electric energy as people unite to celebrate community, creativity, and culture. With over 100 festivals and events happening downtown this summer, the heart of our city will be bursting with fun and entertainment for everyone.

Festivals & events are generally approved to proceed, as long as they adhere to water restrictions currently in place. Please check the events website for any updates.

FEATURED EVENT


Beaulieu Flower and Artisan Market

When: July 20
Where: Lougheed House
Website: Beaulieu Flower and Artisan Market

Celebrate Beaulieu Gardens in the height of beauty! The Beaulieu Flower & Artisan Market will feature vendors, selling cut flowers, fresh produce, potted plants, pottery, art, and more on the beautiful South Lawn beside Lougheed House. Free workshops, including cyanotype printing and fish scale art, will take place throughout the day. The market is free to attend and museum admission will also be complimentary.

Calgary Pride

When: August 24 - September 2

Where: Various locations

Calgary Pride celebrates the city’s diverse and inclusive 2SLGBTQ+ community. There is a full week of events, including the Pride Parade which attracts more than 60,000 spectators. The parade is followed by Pride in the Park, a free, family-friendly, outdoor celebration with food trucks, live music, a beer garden, and a family activity zone.

Brewery & the Beast

When: August 25

Where: The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland (formerly Fort Calgary)

Brewery & the Beast brings together chefs and restaurants form Calgary, Banff, Edmonton, and the surrounding area to celebrate Alberta’s food and beverage scene. This festival creates a dynamic environment to learn about local proteins and produce, enjoy quality food and drink, and support local businesses. 

Arts Commons Outdoor Concert

When: August 28

Where: Olympic Plaza

Experience a free concert for the whole family hosted by Arts Commons with a performance by a marquee artist complete with an opening act in the renowned Olympic Plaza.

Seconds Collective Vintage and Second Hand Market

When: August 30 - 31

Seconds Collective is a second-hand market that does pop ups all over the city. Their goal is to empower individuals to buy, sell, and trade quality pre-owned textiles. This calm, cool, collective emphasizes the power of community to create a greener, more responsible, and unique consumer culture.

Fiesta Filipino

When: August 30 - September 1

Where: Olympic Plaza

The Biggest celebration of the Filipino Canadian community and heritage since 2015, Fiesta Filipino is a celebration of the multiculturalism and diversity in Alberta through music, arts, food and performances.

Love is Love Mile

When: September 1

Where: Ninth Ave. S.E. in front of The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland (formerly Fort Calgary) to Ninth Ave. S.W. / Third St. S.W.

Launched in 2020, the Love is Love Mile was created to bring communities together! This one-mile run takes place on the Calgary Pride Parade route, prior to the parade's start. A virtual option is available whereby registrants complete their own one-mile run or walk anywhere, anytime, on any surface during Calgary Pride week.  

2024 Honens Festival – 176 Keys

When: September 6

2022 Honens Prize Laureate Illia Ovcharenko and Honens Artistic Director Jon Kimura Parker are joined by Alberta’s own virtuoso pianists Carmen Morin and Zhenni Li-Cohen in this annual favourite, where you will hear some of some of the most fun, exciting, and upbeat repertoire classical piano has to offer. Piano students from University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts and the Mount Royal University Conservatory will open the concert with party pieces of their own.  

2024 Honens Festival – Illia Ovcharenko in Recital: Beethoven Three Ways

When: September 6

Highlighting this year’s Honens Festival is a solo recital by 2022 Honens Prize Laureate Illia Ovcharenko. Illia is taking the world by storm with a fast-growing list of accolades. Illia’s program is centred on Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, particularly the second movement.

2024 Honens Festival – Bison Noir: Centenary in Blue

When: September 6

Put away classical music concert traditions, pull up a chair, and enjoy a beer and some nosh, while award-winning wind quintet WindSync and Honens Artistic Director Jon Kimura Parker take you out for a night in Birdland with a Jazz Age inspired program. With a mix of jazz, blues, and contemporary, all performed by Jackie Parker and the vibrant and versatile musicians of WindSync, this edition of Bison Noir is one you won’t soon forget. This event is 18+
