Tape or draw a mazeĀ onto the ground. Follow the lines on the ground, make quick turns and collect as many goodies along the way without getting caught.

Where to play

Open area inside the house or outside in the backyard/driveway/sidewalk

Safety tip

Try and make sure your space is clear of other objects

Supplies

  • Sidewalk chalk or paint (if outdoors)
  • Painters tape, string or yarn (if indoors)
  • Goodies such as beanbags, toys, pasta pieces or any small objects

Directions

Step one

Mark on the ground a large rectangle with tape, string or chalk and fill the rectangle with lots of connecting lines to form a large maze.

Step two

A mouse must walk or run along the lines to collect as many goodies as possible.

Step three

A second person is the cat who starts at the other end of the rectangle and must walk or run along the lines to try to tag the mouse.

Step four

When the cat or mouse must turn on the lines, pivot one foot slightly in front of the other and allow the body to turn in the direction of the back foot while maintaining balance.

Step five

Challenge yourself! Depending on the skill level, move your feet from heel to toe, placing the other feet in front of the toe.

Step six

Bonus: If you have created a really large maze and you have more people in your household to play with, add more cats and mice.
