Benefits of our sports lessons
Our lessons aim to building basic skills so everyone can have fun and feel comfortable while playing sports. In our lessons you will:
- Build confidence.
- Improve mass and fine motor skills.
- Develop sport-specific competencies.
- Learn teamwork and communication.
- Prepare for school sport tryouts.
- Have fun.
- Make new friends.

Spring & summer registration dates
- 6 a.m. — Online (virtual waiting room opens at 5:30 a.m.)
- 8:30 a.m. — By calling the Customer Service Centre at 403-268-3800 (option 1)
- During business hours — At any City-operated Aquatic & Recreation or Arts facility
Types of sports lessons

Kids will be introduced to the rules of badminton and gain confidence in the skills needed for the game. They will participate in drills, activities and scrimmages. These lessons take place indoors. Equipment will be provided.

Gain an understanding of the basic rules of basketball. Through drills and scrimmages, kids will learn skills like shooting and passing that are needed to play the game. These lessons take place indoors. Equipment will be provided.

Each lesson, kids will work on improving their physical health, coordination and teamwork skills while learning a new team field sport. Equipment will be provided.

Girls at Bat aims to break down barriers for girls in sports. Anyone who identifies as female can join this program and grow their confidence, while tackling issues like sports being too competitive, perceived lack of skill and limited access to opportunities. Equipment will be provided.

Girls will participate in drills and scrimmages to gain an understanding of the rules and skills needed to play soccer. This sport lesson will take place on an indoor field. Open to anyone who identifies as female.

In this single class, kids, teens and adults of all abilities will gain an understanding of the rules and techniques needed for wheelchair basketball. These lessons are open to all individuals and focus on inclusivity and teamwork. Equipment will be provided.

About our instructors
Our trained and knowledgeable instructors have experience teaching kids. We foster a fun, friendly and supportive environment.
All staff are Certified with Intermediate First Aid, CPR and AED Level C.

What are sports lessons like?
Our sport lessons focus on skill development through fun games, drills and scrimmages.
Instructors identify individual needs, encouraging and supporting participants as they develop new skills and improve existing ones.
Classes typically run 45 - 60 minutes.

Come prepared
Proper attire must be worn. Please bring:
- Clean, indoor athletic shoes that have not been worn outdoors.
- Clean active-wear.
- Closed-top water bottle.
