Our lessons aim to building basic skills so everyone can have fun and feel comfortable while playing sports. In our lessons you will:
- Build confidence.
- Improve mass and fine motor skills.
- Develop sport-specific competencies.
- Learn teamwork and communication.
- Prepare for school sport tryouts.
- Have fun.
- Make new friends.
Winter registration dates
- 6 a.m. — Online (virtual waiting room opens at 5:30 a.m.)
- 8:30 a.m. — By calling the Customer Service Centre at 403-268-3800 (option 1)
- During business hours — At any City-operated Aquatic & Recreation or Arts facility

Kids will be introduced to the rules of badminton and gain confidence in the skills needed for the game. They will participate in drills, activities and scrimmages. These lessons take place indoors. Equipment will be provided.
Age: 6 - 12 years

Gain an understanding of the basic rules of basketball. Through drills and scrimmages, kids will learn skills like shooting and passing that are needed to play the game. These lessons take place indoors. Equipment will be provided.

Girls at Bat aims to break down barriers for girls in sports. Anyone who identifies as female can join this program and grow their confidence, while tackling issues like sports being too competitive, perceived lack of skill and limited access to opportunities. Equipment will be provided.

Girls will participate in drills and scrimmages while learning rules and developing skills, like shooting and passing. These lessons take place indoors. Equipment will be provided. Open to anyone who identifies as female.

Girls will participate in drills and scrimmages to gain an understanding of the rules and skills needed to play soccer. This sport lesson will take place on an indoor field. Open to anyone who identifies as female.

Girls will be introduced to the rules of wallyball and gain skills that transfer to the volleyball court. They will take part in drills and scrimmages. These lessons take place indoors. Equipment will be provided. Open to anyone who identifies as female.
Age: 13 – 15 years
Prerequisite: None

While wearing a blindfold, you will try to block and score with a ball that has bells inside to refine your sense of hearing. All equipment will be provided.
Age: 13+
Prerequisite: Ability to get down to and up from the floor and spend time on your knees

Older adults will practice and improve their soccer skills through gameplay. You will take part in drills and scrimmages on an indoor turf field. These lessons are intended for people who do not feel comfortable with highly competitive league play.
Age: 50+
Prerequisite: Comfortable with beginner level soccer skills. Be able to walk/run for ten minutes at a time

Older adults will learn the rules and skills needed to play soccer games. You will take part in drills and scrimmages on an indoor turf field. These lessons are intended for people who do not feel comfortable with highly competitive league play.
Age: 50+
Prerequisite: Be able to walk/run for five minutes at a time

Kids will take part in soccer drills and scrimmages on an indoor field while learning the rules and skills needed for the game. Equipment will be provided.
Age: 6 - 12 years

Each lesson, kids will work on improving their physical health, coordination and teamwork skills while learning a new indoor team sport. Equipment will be provided.

About our instructors
Our trained and knowledgeable instructors have experience teaching kids. We foster a fun, friendly and supportive environment.
All staff are Certified with Intermediate First Aid, CPR and AED Level C.
What are sports lessons like?
Our sport lessons focus on skill development through fun games, drills and scrimmages.
Instructors identify individual needs, encouraging and supporting participants as they develop new skills and improve existing ones.
Classes typically run 45 - 60 minutes.
Come prepared
Proper attire must be worn. Please bring:
- Clean, indoor athletic shoes that have not been worn outdoors.
- Clean active-wear.
- Closed-top water bottle.
