Surveying Calgarians about Social Issues and Service needs
Signposts is a telephone survey that uncovers information about social issues that affect Calgarians and the services they need. As well, it gives The City's Administration an accurate picture of where those services are needed and how Calgary's service needs change over time. The information is used by City planners and community organizations to plan community programs and services.
The Signposts survey is undertaken jointly by The United Way of Calgary and The City of Calgary, Calgary Neighbourhoods. The last survey was conducted in 2009 and over 3,000 Calgarians were interviewed by phone. The final report (released in 2013) and a series of supplemental themed reports are available on this page.
Supplemental Reports
There are five supplemental reports, based on the 2009 Signposts Survey Report, that examine issues specific to distinct groups in Calgary. Each supplemental report draws comparisons between the specific group identified in the report and the wider Calgary population with respect to social issues affecting each group and their service needs. The themed reports are being updated to reflect the 2011 federal census data. The five supplemental reports are:
