Calgary Equity Index
The Calgary Equity Index (CEI) is a tool to help residents, planners, researchers, and decision-makers identify disparities or equity concerns across Calgary.
The CEI is an initial screening tool and along with additional data and information, can support monitoring and identifying opportunities or social and economic disparities across Calgary.
The CEI is composed of 20 indicators across five domains or categories that affect overall health and wellbeing of Calgarians. The five domains are:
- Economic opportunity
- Human and social development
- Governance and civic engagement
- Physical environment and infrastructure
- Population health
The indicators and domains were weighted and aggregated to arrive at an overall equity score that is visualized across 113 planning geography areas in Calgary called Community Service Areas (CSAs).
