Hidden Valley - Mobility safety improvements
In the summer of 2024, temporary and permanent traffic calming measures will be put in place to improve safety along three corridors: Hidden Creek Drive N.W., Hidden Creek Boulevard N.W. and Hidden Creek Way N.W. These safety improvements are being considered in response to findings from a recent safety and operational review looking at operational speed and collisions in the area. Based on traffic safety analysis, the changes are expected to reduce incidents and near-misses involving motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Preliminary inputs for the proposed changes were gathered from an on-site meeting with the Hanson Ranch Traffic Group, Ward 3 councillor’s office and 311 feedback from the citizens living in and around the community of Hidden Valley north of Beddington Trail, commonly known as Hanson Ranch.
Proposed changes include:
- Installation of temporary curb extensions along the three corridors to ensure that these corridors operate as one lane each direction
- Crosswalk enhancements
- Reducing the speed limit to posted 40 km/h
- Painting the shoulder lines along Hidden Creek Drive and Hidden Creek Boulevard corridors to reduce travel lane widths
- Installing temporary speed humps in select locations
- Converting the existing temporary roundabout to permanent in the summer/fall 2024
Project timeline

- June 2024: Finalize the design
- July-August 2024: Temporary installations
- Summer-Fall 2024: Permanent roundabout installation
