Residential Area Educational Sandwich Board Signs
Citizens who live in a residential area where kids are at play, and have concerns about speeding or traffic safety, can request an educational sandwich board sign.
The educational sign:
- Conveys community concerns about safe driving in residential areas
- Signals to drivers to slow down and watch for kids
- Allows citizens to take a proactive approach to driving safety
By working together, we can improve traffic safety and decrease the risk of injuries or accidents in our neighbourhoods.
Use guidelines
- Signs are the requesting citizen’s responsibility
- Signs should only be used when visible activity is happening alongside the roadway
- Example: children playing on a grass boulevard or sidewalk
- Signs need to be at least 10 metres from any intersection
- Do not leave signs out overnight; store in a secure spot to prevent theft or damage
- Signs should not interfere with traffic
- Do not place a sign further out in the road than where a vehicle is parked
- Signs are loaned out temporarily based on demand. The City can reclaim the sign with one week’s notice so other residential areas can take advantage of the offering.
