Bearspaw water main break
What you need to know
-
Every drop you save makes a difference
On Jan 14, our water use was 501 ML, which is in the unsustainable zone. This places strain on our distribution system.
What you can do to help
Stage 4 water restrictions
Calgary’s water system is under strain. Reducing everyday water use ensures enough water remains available for emergency and fire services while repairs continue.
- Outdoor ice rinks cannot be flooded or constructed
- Organizations, such as recreation centres, will be asked to implement their water restriction plans.
Top ways to save water indoors
We're asking Calgarians to focus on taking the following three actions that we know make the biggest difference to household water consumption.
-
Only flush when needed
Skipping three flushes saves about 30 liters.
-
Take 3-minute showers
Every one minute you save in the shower saves up to 8 liters of water.
-
Run full loads only
Only run the washing machine and dishwasher with full loads.
