GamePLAN: Reimagining recreation in Calgary
Why do we need GamePLAN?
Calgary’s public recreation system is under strain from aging facilities, rising costs and growing demand while investments have not kept pace. Without investment and a plan, the system will degrade, facilities will close and services will decline.

How will Wave 1 be funded?
Funding projects
Instead of requesting funding for each individual project, we are asking Council to approve funding each budget cycle so the highest-priority work can move forward.
Multiple funding sources
GamePLAN will be funded through a shared funding model that can include:
- Municipal investment
- Development-related contributions
- Partnerships and sponsoships
- Other levels of government
