They create a positive environment where community members of all ages can build their physical and mental health, while creating strong social connections.
Program options
Choose one of our two great options for booking a recreation program in your community.
Option 1: Hire an instructor
Prices starting at $25 - $50/hour + one time $35 admin fee
Hire our certified staff to run programs at a location in your community. You handle the promotion, registration and cost to participants (free or charged).
Ideal for communities that have the ability to oversee a program but need support with hiring the appropriate staff.
This option requires a minimum of four weeks notice before the desired start date.
Option 2: Host a program
No cost to you. Payment is taken through registrations.
Our certified staff will run the program at a location in your community and take care of promotion, planning, registration and payment.
Ideal for communities that do not have the capacity to run their own program but are interested in increasing recreation programs.
This option requires three months notice before the desired start date.

A dynamic
space where children can explore, create, imagine and learn in their own way.
A variety of materials and loose parts such as boards, tires, tape and

Active Stencils |
Engaging physical literacy stencils can be painted on outdoor flat cement surfaces, indoor flat cement or tile surfaces, or on grass (temporary). Available stencils include hopscotch, jump, left/right, mirror me, bull’s eye toss, and maze. |

Community
drop-in sport programs are a great way to engage adults, families and
children in your community. Opportunities may include floor hockey,
pickleball, spike ball, disc golf, soccer, basketball, flag football,
cricket, volleyball, bocce, badminton, floor curling, dodgeball, etc. |
Gym, green space, or outdoor court approved by the City of Calgary. Most sport equipment provided. A separate request form will be provided so you can tailor the program to your preferences. |
Requirements for booking
Any indoor or outdoor program you want to book will require access to a washroom. Before moving forward with the booking, we will need to approve your space to ensure we can maintain program quality.
Programs requiring the supervision of minors are required to have a minimum of two staff on site.

Fill out the Programs request form and email it to Jordan. Daalder@calgary.ca.
Make sure to submit your requests at least four weeks before the event date for Option 1 and at least three months before the event date for Option 2.
About our instructors
Our staff are certified in Intermediate First Aid and have received program-specific training to ensure the best experience for you. They have the most up-to-date training in their area of expertise.
We will choose staff based on the program type you want to run.
Terms and conditions
Terms
- All requests must be submitted to the Recreation Program Specialist using the Programs Request Form.
- Staff requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to staff availability.
- Once the Program Request Form is received, the Recreation Program Specialist must pre-approve the booking space, and will put out a call for staff. Once staff have been secured, a quote will be sent to the requesting partner for approval.
- Staff are scheduled for classes/programs they are qualified for, for the safety of the participants and for maintaining program quality. This can reflect in the cost and fees of the desired programs due to the variance in hourly wages.
- A menu of program offerings is available. Requesting partners can make reasonable off-menu program requests, though the Recreation Program Specialist has the right to deny such requests.
Cost and fees
- Cost is calculated on a per session basis and includes staff wages, cost of materials (if any), and any additional costs associated to the program (ex. Rental costs).
- All staff are scheduled with preparation and takedown time for the program. This is included in the fees.
- A quote will be sent to the requesting partner, and written approval must be received to move forward with the booking process.
- Billing is sent by mail to the requesting agency after the classes have been completed (unless a special agreement has been made). Instructions for payment are received with the invoice; In person, by mail, and online payment options available.
Cancellations
- Cancellations may occur due to staff illness, emergencies, weather conditions, etc. Notice will be sent to the requesting agency as soon as possible and an effort to reschedule the session will be made.
- Cancellations coming from the requesting agency, we require a minimum of 2 business days’ notice (48 business hours) to the Recreation Program Specialist. If this notice is not given, the full amount of the session is still owed.
