The City of Calgary Archives was created in 1981 to safeguard and make available Calgary’s municipal government records and city information. Everyone is welcome to research the records held at the archives.​​​​

​​At The City of Calgary Archives, historical records and information can be found relating to the following:

• records created by The City of Calgary and City Council activities,
• Parks,
• Planning,
• Property assessments,
• Transportation, and
• Calgary events such as the XV Olympic Winter Games.

The City of Calgary Archives Portal is now open! 

The portal improves access to records held at the Archives and makes visits to view non-digitized records more efficient.

The City of Calgary Archives contains the original purchaser information for the Olympic Plaza Bricks. Archives staff are available to help researchers access this original information. The public is encouraged to look through the Olympic Brick Finder Ap to see if they can find the inscription before contacting the Archives.

If you have questions about identifying the inscription or purchaser of an Olympic Brick, call 403-268-8180 or email archives@calgary.ca . You can also come in person to the Archives, but please note that the Archives are available Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 4 p.m.

The Archives is not part of the Olympic Plaza Brick Request process. Instruction on how to register to get your brick back can be found at the Olympic Plaza Transformation page. If you have questions regarding the registration form or the program, contact 311.
