Swim Instructors

As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching participants of all ages swimming and safety education. You will also create lesson plans, evaluate performance, maintain records and answer questions about swimming lessons.

Qualifications for becoming a Swim Instructor

You must be at least 15 years old and hold the three certifications outlined below. City of Calgary standards differ from the Lifesaving Society's valid certification length. When you submit your online application, please include proof of certifications for the Swim Instructor position.

Lifeguards

Once you have successfully been hired on as a Swim Instructor with The City of Calgary, you will have the opportunity to apply internally to become a Lifeguard.

Qualifications for becoming a Lifeguard

You must be at least 18 years old, a current City of Calgary Swim Instructor and provide proof of certifications when applying for Lifeguard jobs.
