Types of hockey and ringette lessons

Girls will learn the basics of hockey through drills, activities and scrimmages in this non-competitive program. Players will improve their skating skills and learn how to pass, shoot and handle the puck. Open to anyone who identifies as female.
Age: 6 - 15 years
Prerequisite: Skating lessons 3 or equivalent. Must be able to skate forwards, backwards and stop.

Goalies of all ages will get extra practice time on the ice to further their skills. Although there are no dedicated goalie drills or lessons, players with similar skills from hockey lessons will take shots for you to practice stopping, catching and handling the puck. Open to anyone who identifies as female.

In this single class, you will experience sledge hockey through drills, activities and scrimmages in this non-competitive program. Players will improve their sledge skills and learn how to pass, shoot and handle the puck.

Through drills, activities and scrimmages, you will learn the basics of sledge hockey. These non-competitive lessons are open to all individuals and focus on inclusivity and teamwork. Sled and stick will be provided.
Ages: 6+

About our hockey and ringette instructors
Our instructors have strong hockey backgrounds. Some may also hold certificates from the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), Hockey Certification and/or Nationally recognized HIGH FIVE Certification.
All our instructors hold current Intermediate First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level “C” and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications.
What are hockey and ringette lessons like?
On the first day of classes, participants will be assessed on their abilities. This ensures their progress throughout the session is optimized.
Our instructors teach the sport of hockey through drills and non-competitive scrimmages that teach basic passing, shooting and puck handling skills.
Participants come with full gear and equipment to ensure the experience is safe for all.
Specific viewing areas are provided for parents to watch while lesson is in progress.
Come prepared
We recommend you arrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to lesson start time to be dressed and prepared for the lesson.
Full gear is required for hockey lessons including:
- Hockey helmet - helmet must be Canadian Safety Association (CSA) approved. Hockey helmet with full face cage is mandatory. Bicycle helmets are NOT permitted
- Lace-up Hockey skates - Ensure skates are sharpened (new skates do not come sharpened). Skates with buckles are not recommended
- Mouth guard
- Neck protection/guard
- Shin guards
- Shoulder pads
- Elbow pads
- Gloves
- Pelvic Protection
- Socks
- Sweater/jersey
- Stick
