TIPP - Non-payment and service charges
TIPP non-payment penalties
If a Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) payment is missed, The City of Calgary may cancel the agreement, making all unpaid taxes due immediately and subject to non-payment penalties in accordance with the Penalty on Unpaid Taxes Bylaw 8M2002. To request the balance owing, contact Property Tax.
TIPP service charges
If your bank does not honour your Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) instalment, a service charge of $35 will be added to your account.
If you are paying more than one property with a single monthly bank withdrawal and your payment is not honoured by your bank, an additional service charge of $10 will be added to each property tax account affected by the non-payment.
Service charges are subject to change.
TIPP returned payment – making up a missed instalment
Any TIPP instalment returned by your bank, plus any service charge(s) must be made up to ensure your participation in the plan is not cancelled by The City of Calgary.
Replacing a payment before it becomes dishonoured will not stop the next monthly TIPP instalment from being withdrawn or prevent service fees.
We will not make a second attempt to withdraw the returned payment from your bank account.
TIPP replacement payments, like all property tax payments, can be made through
Banks and financial institutions. If you are paying online, the 9 digit roll number is your account number. Select the payee name closest to “Calgary (City Of) Property Tax” or “Calgary Property Tax.” If you are unable to find The City of Calgary, Property Tax as a payee, please contact your bank for assistance.
When replacing payments for more than one property, each roll number must be paid separately, not as a lump sum payment to one roll number.
