How to recycle plastic film, overwrap and shrink wrap packaging
Examples of plastic film
TIP: If the plastic film and wrap stretches (like a grocery bag) it's recyclable; if it does not stretch, is crinkly or tears (like a plastic frozen dinner cover), it's not recyclable.
- Plastic film

- Cling wrap like Glad stretch wrap and Saran wrap
- Bubble wrap
- Plastic overwrap on household items such as toilet paper, water bottles, and paper towels

Put into your blue cart or take to a community recycling depot
Put bagged stretchy plastic wrap, bubble wrap and other plastic film:
- In your blue cart for recycling
- At a community recycling depot
Special instructions
- Plastic film must be clean for recycling. Separate overwrap from other materials (e.g. cardboard flat) for recycling.
- Bundle plastic film with your other stretchy plastic bags and securely tie closed. Loose film create equipment jams at the sorting facility which is why they need to be bagged together in order to be recycled properly.
