Confidential information release
As outlined in the Municipal Government Act (MGA), Council and Council Committees can discuss confidential matters in a closed meeting. Once the information discussed is no longer restricted the information can be released.
The Council documents below that were originally considered confidential have now been released to the public.

Why are closed meetings held?
As outlined in the Municipal Government Act (MGA) Council and Council Committees can discuss matters in a closed meeting when the matter falls within one of the exceptions to disclosure outlined in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). Once the information discussed is no longer restricted the information can be released. The website contains the information that is released, or has the potential to be released, from closed meetings, beginning on January 1, 2019.
How often will this page be updated?
Why are some reports discussed in closed meeting not included?
There could be several reasons why a report is not included. The City of Calgary has legislative requirements under FOIP to protect certain types of information, for example, personal information.
Why did the review date change on an item?
A review date can change if timelines of an event changed, and disclosure could still be harmful. In this case, a new review date will be set.
Where can I find the minutes where a specific confidential report was discussed?
No decisions are made in a closed meeting. To find the minutes of the meeting where the confidential report was presented search for the meeting online at https://www.calgary.ca/agendaminutes.
