Green Line Hosts Business Information Session
On November 15, Green Line LRT hosted an Information Session to introduce Calgary’s local contractors, suppliers, and trades to Bow Transit Connectors and City Link Partners, the two teams competing to design, build and construct Phase 1.
One of these teams will be selected in early 2023 as the Development Partner. This will launch an approximately 12-month Development Phase to allow for collaboration, design progression and better understanding of risks and costs in an open and transparent manner.
While the Development Partner will bring considerable experience in megaprojects of comparable size and complexity, most work will be delivered by local contractors. In addition to more than $2.2B in economic benefits, Phase 1 is anticipated to create 20,000 direct and indirect jobs throughout construction.
Wendy Tynan, Director of Stakeholder Relations and Communications, Green Line LRT, reaffirmed that “the Green Line LRT is a project for Calgarians, built by Calgarians.”
Phase 1 is the largest infrastructure project in our City’s history and will build the 18 km core of the Green Line, constructing the most technically complex section of the new LRT line to support future expansion to the north and south.
Speaking to the 240 local companies who participated, Green Line Board Chair, Don Fairbairn remarked, “It’s a big room, and we’ve got the best of Calgary in it – contractors, designers and businesses with a real commitment to this city.”
Attendees were also provided an option to meet individually with Bow Transit Connectors and City Link Partners to better understand the project scope and work opportunities.
The Business Information Session was recorded and is available here in its entirety.
