Should I apply?

To qualify for Fair Entry, you must meet certain criteria. Read the three sections below to see if you qualify for Fair Entry before you fill out an application.

Live in Calgary

You must currently live in Calgary.

This is required for all programs.

Note: If you do not live in Calgary, please call 211 to be connected to services in your area.

Income limits

You must provide proof of lower income. This is required for all programs except the Seniors Services Home Maintenance program.

Income documents

The following income proofs are the best way to apply:

  • Assured Income for Severely Handicapped benefits (AISH)
  • Alberta Works: Income Support
  • Foundational Learning Assistance (formerly Alberta Works Learners)
  • Alberta Works - Alberta Health Benefit
  • Resettlement Assistance Program

Or, you can also provide the following:

  • Canada Revenue Notice of Assessment

If you do not have any of the above options, you may use one of the following:

  • Letter from a Registered Social Worker 
  • Letter for Independent Youth

Note: If you are using the Canada Revenue Notice of Assessment OR are applying for any of the following programs below, you will need to provide an income proof for EACH family member related by blood, marriage, adoption or common-law who is 18 years or older living at the same Calgary address.

  • Property Tax
  • Seniors Services Home Maintenance
  • No cost spay/neuter for cats
  • Internet, cell phone, television

Count the number of family members in your house, including children. In the chart below, your total family income (for everyone related by blood, marriage, adoption or common-law 18 years and older living at the same Calgary address) must be at or below:

Age

You must be 65 years or older and provide proof of age to access the Seniors Services Home Maintenance program and/or the Seniors Annual Transit Pass program.

To access the No Cost Spay and Neuter program, at least one person in your household must be 18 years or older and proof of age must be provided.

Proof of age is not required for any other programs.
