Arena tournaments or special events
What is considered a tournament or special event?
A tournament is a competition involving several teams and games, with the overall tournament winner determined based on the combined results of these individual or team matches. It takes place outside regular league play and is specific to a duration. Tournaments can utilize single or multiple venues based on the number of competitors and the competition size. A tournament must be a booking of consecutive days, which results in a title winner.
A special event is a one-time non-standard facility usage.
If you are not booking either of the above types, you can book your rental here.

Renewal rights
Arena bookings are automatically renewed for the next season once a group earns renewal rights (no application required). Last-minute bookings do not qualify for renewals.
Earning renewal rights
To earn renewal rights, a group must have a rental and payment history of 10 or more regularly scheduled bookings in each of the previous two seasons, at the same time, in the same arena, on the same day for 10 dates within a session (Fall or Winter), with fees paid on time. Groups meeting these criteria for the first time are called New Renewals.
New renewals
New Renewals must maintain the same rental and payment history that earned their eligibility for an additional two years. During that period, you'll continue submitting rental applications on the date(s) specified for your group.
After two years in good standing as a New Renewal, you rental status is upgraded to Established Renewals.
Established renewals
An established renewal status means your permit is automatically renewed — rental applications are no longer required. If your group no longer needs the arena, please refer to your renewal package for information on how and when to cancel without penalty.
Maintaining renewal rights
It takes two years to earn renewal rights, and two years to lose them. This allows for the occasional scheduling change or disruption. The City may withdraw Renewal Rights from renters who sub-let time slots without permission or fail to show.
Collection of personal information
The City collects personal information through the rental application process under authority of the:
- Facility Booking Policy and Procedure
- Facility Use Agreement
- Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, section 33(c)
We use your information only to contact you about your arena rental application and permit as required.
