At the heart of the emerging Culture + Entertainment District, Scotia Place will breathe new life into the city streets, attracting visitors from near and far to experience the new hub of sports and entertainment in Calgary.
As part of the downtown revitalization work, Scotia Place, as well as other critical infrastructure and city-building projects, play a crucial role in how people interact and move around The C+E District, enhancing the connections between people and places.
The C+E District improvements enhance the lives of Calgarians and bring life back to downtown Calgary. Many projects in the district have already been completed, including the $500M expansion of the BMO Centre, the largest in Western Canada, and the completion of Sam Centre, already infusing new energy into the city. See a full list of projects in The C+E.

The map below includes some, but not all, improvements being made in the Culture + Entertainment District.
More details can be found on the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) website.
Scotia Place is a premier sports and entertainment venue. Providing a new home for professional and amateur sports team, and place for community and connection. The new venue will also have the infrastructure available to support large concerts and other events.
Open in 1983 as a replacement to the Stampede Corral, the Scotiabank Saddledome is home to many professional and amateur sports team and acts as venue for other events.
The BMO Centre is now the largest convention centre in Western Canada, with more than 1M sq. ft. of combined hosting space. There are 38 new meeting rooms, 70,000 sq. ft. of new ballroom space and 100,000 sq. ft. of new exhibition space.
This is the first in a series of C+E District infrastructure projects that will support Scotia Place. The underpass is a critical infrastructure connection to support future development in the area.
Four blocks of Stampede Trail will be transformed into a multifunctional space. This vibrant retail and entertainment corridor will serve as a multi-modal connector, a pedestrian-only festival plaza, and an urban community space for special events. It will become a vital interface linking the BMO Centre, Scotia Place, and retail developments along the corridor.
Future Greenline stations will connect transit riders to the C+E District, including Scotia Place. This will be an important transit connection for the Calgary Stampede and a new Event Centre.
The 17 Ave S.E. Extension and Victoria Park/Stampede Station Rebuild project is creating a new gateway into the C+E District from 17 Ave – welcoming pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles across Macleod Trail for the first time in more than 40 years.
