Local Area Investment Fund
What is the Local Area Investment Fund?
As part of the current budget cycle (2023-2026), Council has approved a $20 million fund. This fund will support the implementation of public infrastructure and amenity improvements in approved local area plans.
What does the Fund do?
The Fund directly supports communities as they grow and change through investment in community improvements. It supports projects that seek to enhance mobility, liveability and access to and use of community amenities.
How are projects considered?
Projects considered for funding are developed as part of the local area planning process and are found in Chapter 3 and Appendix A. These projects are informed by community input and are guided by each plan’s core values.

How are projects selected for funding?
Each potential project is assessed to determine if it qualifies for funding. This assessment considers community capacity, investing in parks and open spaces, and promoting equity. In addition, it considers community benefits and mobility options. As local area plans are approved and funding becomes available, new projects will be identified and prioritized for funding from the Local Area Investment Fund.
