New peace officer Traffic Safety Team to improve road safety
City of CalgaryThe City of Calgary is proud to announce the launch of its new Traffic Safety Team (TST), a strategic initiative under the Traffic Safety Act and The Safer Mobility Framework. This dedicated team of eight peace officers and two sergeants will focus on enforcing speed limits in playground zones, advancing traffic safety education, and addressing noisy vehicle violations.
In November 2024, Council approved $2 million annually for the Civic Partner Community Safety Grant Program to support The City’s Civic Partners operating in the downtown to address safety incidents and related escalated safety issues in the areas and community spaces surrounding their facilities.

Municipal Plaza lighting upgrade supports safer downtown public spaces
