Green Line selects Graham Construction to build 78th Avenue Project
Following a competitive RFP process, the Green Line Board has selected Calgary-based Graham Construction to build the 78 Avenue S.E. Grade Separation and Ogden Pedestrian Tunnel Project (“78th Avenue Project”).
Before building the Ogden LRT station and tracks, the 78th Avenue Project will complete vehicle and pedestrian tunnels under the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) railway corridor to enhance mobility and pedestrian safety and clear the way for future construction of the Ogden station and LRT track.
Headquartered in Calgary, Graham brings their extensive experience from major infrastructure projects across North America to the Green Line LRT Project.

Summer construction
This summer, several significant construction projects are underway in the Downtown, Beltline and Ogden to prepare for the Green Line. All Green Line construction in the Downtown and Beltline will pause for Stampede and resume in mid-July.
- Downtown & Beltline – work is ongoing to relocate underground utilities away from the future Green Line tunnel and stations.
- Ogden – construction begins this summer to build a vehicle tunnel below the Canadian Pacific Railway corridor at 78 Avenue S.E. and a pedestrian tunnel at 72 Avenue S.E.

On display: The past, present and future of Light Rail Transit in Calgary
A new display in the Calgary Municipal Building brings to life the history and future of Calgary’s Light Rail Transit (LRT) system. The display, located on the west side of Council Chambers, showcases historical artifacts, photos, and maps of the LRT system since its inception in 1981.
Check out the display and see how our CTrain system has grown since its humble beginnings in 1981, when there was just one train line (Anderson to Downtown), 10.9 kilometres of track and 16 stations. Plans for future extensions to the Red and Blue Lines, plus the addition of the Green Line, will eventually see our system grow to over 80 stations and more than 100 kilometres of track.
June is National Indigenous History Month
The Green Line LRT Program is committed to advancing Reconciliation with and for Indigenous Peoples, businesses, and communities. Green Line has developed an Indigenous Relations strategy to build meaningful relationships, support consultation, and create our new construction monitoring program.
Did you know? Calgary is in traditional Blackfoot territory and Moh’kinsstis is the Blackfoot word used to describe the landscape of what is now known as Calgary. The literal meaning of Moh’kinsstis is elbow and references the area where the Elbow River meets the Bow River.
