Activating Green Line Spaces – Sled Island Ramsay Block Party

In February 2022, The Green Line LRT purchased the former Lilydale plant in Ramsay to make way for Phase 1 of the project. The land was required to accommodate the elevated LRT guideway connecting the planned Ramsay/Inglewood and 26 Avenue S.E. stations.

The site is slated for demolition, but in the meantime, the Green line LRT project is working on creative opportunities to activate the land and support the community.

On June 25, Green Line partnered with Sled Island to host the Sled Island Ramsay Block Party. This all-day family-friendly event featured live performances, food trucks, vendors and a mobile skate park.

“We’re very fortunate we were able to use this piece of land through Green Line it’s become a wonderful festival site,,” said Corey Robert, Technical Director for Sled Island. “For something like this the partnership is so incidental to the vibe of the community and the things that are happening here, bringing people together and outside.”

The Green Line LRT project has been acquiring land since 2017 to make way for Phase 1 of the project. Phase 1 will deliver 13 stations and connect the southeast to downtown and into the existing Red and Blue LRT Lines and three MAX BRT lines.
