Local business feature - Dandy Brewing Company
Nestled in the community of Ramsay and Inglewood, Dandy Brewing Company attracts locals and newcomers alike with its vibrant collection of premium brews. It’ll also be a few minutes’ walking distance from a future Ramsay/Inglewood Green Line LRT station.
Co-founded by Ben Leon and four of his friends, Dandy Brewing is Alberta's first nano-brewery, meaning their beers are brewed even more exclusively, as Ben notes, “We really wanted to start a brewery that was making really unique styles and really small batches.”
Like many local brewers, Ben’s passion project began as a hobby that “got out of hand.” Now, they’re happily offering big cheers to Canadians across the country as well as Calgarians, who instantly took a liking to their creative assortment of dandified beers. “Any one time we usually have about 15 different beers on the go. We’ve done 120 unique beers in the last 10 years. Always lots of stuff on the go,” said Ben.
Their ever-changing lineup is complimented by an in-house restaurant, as Ben explains, “Part of the building is the Dandy Pizza Brew – a pizza restaurant and tasting room.” The restaurant features 20 taps of Dandy beer, big New-York-style pizzas and even house-made soda. All throughout, Ben maintains that the right ingredients are crucial to their process – whether brewing beers, baking pizzas or making soda.
The team at Dandy Brewing is looking forward to introducing more Calgarians to their diverse and inspired lineup of products, and the Green Line is sure to play a part in that. “We’re super excited about the Green Line,” notes Ben. “The thought that this neighbourhood is going to get that sort of train line coming down here is a huge selling point for us.”
