Green Line Station Feature: Eau Claire
Investing in the future of Eau Claire, Prince’s Island, Chinatown and the East Village is a fundamental piece of The City’s Downtown Strategy – the effort to support and incentivize private investment, generate visits and spending, and provide amenities and services to enhance the quality of life and experience for people living, working and visiting Calgary’s downtown.
Currently there are nine projects in the Eau Claire Area Improvements Program, including three major projects: Eau Claire Plaza redevelopment, Jaipur Bridge and Eau Claire flood barrier promenade, as well as other smaller projects. Full completion of the projects is estimated to be completed in 2023.
Overall, the projects in Eau Claire are meant to create public spaces for people to explore, connect with others and enjoy the area.
Phase 1 of the Green Line LRT will extend from southeast Calgary into the downtown and build 13 stations including one in Eau Claire opening up new transit options for the area.
“The Green Line station is a really important connection for the people and businesses of Eau Claire,” said Dennis Hoffart, the program coordinator of the Eau Claire Area Improvements program.
