RFQ Shortlist and project news

Bow Transit Connectors and City Link Partners shortlisted through Phase 1 RFQ
Following the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for main construction of Phase 1, from Shepard to Eau Claire, the Green Line Board has approved Bow Transit Connectors (Barnard Constructors of Canada, LP, Flatiron Constructors Canada Ltd, and WSP Canada Inc) and City Link Partners (Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc, Dragados Canada Inc, Acciona Infrastructure Canada Inc, Parsons Inc, and AECOM Canada Ltd), two very strong proponent teams, to advance to the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage. Phase 1 is the largest infrastructure project to be constructed in our City’s history and will build the 18km core of the Green Line, constructing the most technically complex section of the new LRT line to support future expansion to the north and south.
The submissions were evaluated against technical capabilities, approach, experience and financial capacity and the process was overseen by an external Fairness Monitor. As Bow Transit Connectors and City Link Partners advance through the procurement process, Green Line will connect local contractors and suppliers with the teams to explore project opportunities. Green Line remains a project for Calgarians, built by Calgarians.
The RFP is on track to be released by the end of Q3 2022 with one of the proponents being selected in early 2023 as the Development Partner. This will launch an approximately 12-month Development Phase to allow for collaboration, design progression, and better understanding of risks and costs in an open and transparent manner.
The strength of the shortlisted proponents is a major step forward for Green Line and another critical milestone for the project.

Four station areas under construction for utility relocation
Utility relocation construction is expanding. The 4 Street, Centre Street, 7 Avenue and 2 Avenue station areas will all have activity, before September. This is a significant investment in infrastructure renewal and includes City of Calgary utilities, like water, stormwater and sanitary lines, as well as our third-party utility providers, upgrading and realigning natural gas, electrical, and telecom lines. Impacts may include on-street parking removal, cycle track closures and detours, sidewalk closures, noise and in some cases, full or partial intersection closures. To help you plan, check out the construction notices for detailed maps and detours.
