Spending the Holidays Downtown – Community Feature
This holiday season, the Calgary Downtown Association invites you to ride transit and visit downtown. With a variety of holiday activities being hosted throughout the city, there is something for everyone to enjoy downtown this season.
The new outdoor skating rink located on Olympic Plaza offers fun, family skating, with captivating lights to enjoy with loved ones. An array of Christmas lights can also be seen draping above Stephen Ave, providing Calgarians with a festive experience in every step.
The Executive Director of the Calgary Downtown Association, Mark Garner, explained the importance of coming back downtown after COVID: “It’s time for people to come back out and reconvene. We need to discover downtown Calgary and all the great things that are happening in the downtown core.”
Mark also expressed his excitement for the future Green Line project, and how the new track alignment will connect Calgary and bring people back downtown.
“The Green Line will play a significant role in the future of Calgary,” said Garner.
Calgary’s existing transit lines are also a great way for Calgarians to get downtown to easily access the many businesses and shops as well as enjoy holiday events and festive activities.
