Green Line Businesses Open During Construction
The Beltline Downtown Utility Relocation project involves relocating underground, street-level and overhead utilities to make way for construction of the Green Line tunnel and stations in the downtown and Beltline. Relocated utilities include City sanitary, water and stormwater lines, as well as third-party telecom, electricity and gas utilities.
Although construction to complete this work is disruptive, it’s critical work and a significant investment to support existing and future development in the community, including the ability to add much-needed housing. The Culture + Entertainment District, part of the City’s Rivers District Master Plan, has many exciting developments recently completed, in progress and on the horizon, including the BMO Centre Expansion, the 17 Avenue Extension and Stampede Crossing, the Sam Centre, the Event Centre, the 6 Street S.E. Underpass, and more.
Businesses form the backbone of these vibrant communities, and your continued support is important during construction. Please take the time to visit your favourite spots and explore new ones.
