Local business feature - Foothills Creamery

Holding on to its old-fashioned methods, Foothills Creamery has been providing exceptional dairy products to Western Canada for over 50 years. With over 80 flavours of ice cream, sorbet, sherbet and soft serve to choose from, Foothills is a popular choice for many Calgarians and Albertans.

The future Green Line station at 26 Avenue S.E. will serve as a primary method of transportation for many Foothills employees.

Director of Marketing Scott Wegener says,

“A lot of our employees use public transportation to get to our factory and increasing that with the Green Line and having more frequent stops is great for them to get to our office.”

Established in 1969, Foothills Creamery still makes butter and ice cream the same way as when they first started. Staying close to their Canadian roots, Foothills acquires its cream from Western Canadian dairy farmers. Once the cream arrives at the factory, the process to create their variety of dairy products begins.

“As soon as it arrives, we pasteurize that cream and start churning it into butter, then the butter milk from that butter goes into our ice cream.”  -Wegener

Committed to its longstanding processes, many Foothills employees have been mastering the dairy craft for over 20 years. Continuing the practice of barrel churning butter, Foothills ensures that it will provide the public with the same great taste and quality as it did in 1969.

Ice cream lovers can buy Foothills Creamery products in provinces across Canada, including British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and of course Alberta.

The future Green Line station at 26 Avenue S.E. will provide easy access to many industries and businesses in the area.
