November 2020 Green Line LRT Project Update - Business Support Program

Business Support Program and the Business Insights Panel

We are excited to share with you the launch of the online engagement portal for Green Line’s Business Support Program.

Green Line Engagement Phase 1

Green Line is conducting engagement to inform the development of a Business Support Program (BSP). The BSP is a program that focuses on helping businesses and communities prepare for and manage the potential impacts of construction of the Green Line LRT. The program is launching the first phase of engagement this fall, with future stages extending into Q2 2021. Engagement will take place online for three weeks starting on Friday, November 13, 2020.

Business Insights Panel

This first phase includes recruitment for Green Line's new Business Insights Panel. The Business Insights Panel will include representation from Business Improvement Areas, Community Associations and Calgary businesses; it will help to inform the BSP by sharing insights from Calgary's business community. We are recruiting public members to the Business Insights Panel who are willing to share their insights from the business perspective. If you are interested or you know of someone who would be interested, please check the project website for more details.

Green Line is committed to working with businesses and communities in advance of construction to ensure that impacted stakeholders have the information they need to be prepared for construction, and so that we can all be better equipped to manage the impacts of LRT construction.

Segment 2 functional planning

We’re now moving through a process called functional planning, where we better understand the unique engineering requirements and any specific issues that need to be addressed to develop detailed functional plans for the project. Completing the functional plan for Segment 2 includes examining how the LRT will change travel patterns on Centre Street North and in surrounding communities, as well as what requirements LRT stations will have. It also includes a Streetscape Master Plan for Centre Street North, North Central BRT Study and planning the form and features for the new Bow River bridge.

From November 23 to December 13, 2020 and in early 2021, we’ll be looking for feedback on four major elements to help us complete the functional planning process:

  • North Mobility Studies
  • Streetscape Masterplan: Centre Street North
  • North Central BRT Study
  • Bow River bridge

Your ideas and input will be used to help inform concepts and plans, which will be brought back to Calgarians for feedback and comments in 2021.
